In the Golden Age, the top breweries that directed the beer trade were located in Amsterdam. During this period, bulk beer was sold to the Dutch East India Company (VOC) who introduced and traded Dutch beer to the empires in East Asia. The brewers became one of the wealthiest and influential citizens of Amsterdam and they lived in the most coveted houses of the Grachtengordel. More than 400 years of history, it’s now a UNESCO World Heritage.
